Update on "non-profit" 501 (c) 3 status for
CDS
Allen Boivin Brown, President of the Center for Dependable
Strengths (CDS), reported that in December 2003, CDS applied
for 501 ( c ) 3 status from the Internal Revenue Service.
This application has recently been approved and CDS has
obtained the special tax designation from the IRS which
allows financial donors to CDS to claim a deduction from
their income tax, as they would with other public charities.
Mr. Brown adds, “This
is a big benefit to the Center for Dependable Strengths.
We
can now offer patrons the incentive
of a tax deduction in return for their donation to the Center,
and we can begin fundraising through donations in earnest.
This is one of our strategies for financing the CDS organization
and continuing the work of Bernard Haldane. Our goal is to
become financially self-supporting so his work can continue.
This is a win-win arrangement for CDS and potential donors,
which Bernard would surely endorse."
