November 18, 2006
The CDS Executive Committee continues to meet regularly,
usually on the first Saturday of each month for about three
hours. Here is a brief update.
New Voting Member
In November, we welcomed Bob Pack as a voting member. He
has moved beyond adjunct status. Bob works for the State of
Washington in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. He
has been a tireless crusader for Dependable Strengths since
his DS training at the UW in January 2002. Bobs efforts
have paid off. He has become Coordinator of the state-wide
Workstrides program for DVR that includes Dependable Strengths
training for all DVR staff in Washington. As a DS Local Trainer
he has now presented two 5-Day trainings for DVR staff. His
commitment, integrity and energy are a great addition to the
CDS Executive Committee.
Sample Executive Committee Tasks
The EC deals with all aspects of our DSAP training plus the
details of running an organization. As an example, the agenda
for our December meeting includes: a) planning for our annual
retreat where we will revisit our mission and implementation
strategies; b) reviewing a more detailed process for writing
proofs in the Reality Test; c) meeting with a
potential new Adjunct Member, Katie Hearn Zang; d) discussing
how to arrange agreements with profit-making organizations
that wish to use DS; e) hearing an update on progress in grant
writing; f) discussing marketing opportunities; f) reviewing
reports from the Regional CDS organizations; g) reviewing
our meager budget; h) hearing an update on proposals for participating
in upcoming conferences; and other assorted and sundry items.
Need For Missing Strengths
As a fledgling organization, we are experiencing a need for
certain additional strength and skill sets on our Executive
Committee. We have discovered we are mainly teacher/trainer/educator
types. We are looking to add to our partnership of excellence
business/legal/marketing talents. A committed supporter of
Dependable Strengths with skills as a bookkeeper, accountant,
lawyer, or marketer would be a welcome addition to the CDS
Executive Committee.
