THE PROCESS WORKS ITSELF

Dear Mr. Li,

Do you still remember me? I am Jiali Lu, one of the students in your Dependable Strengths Articulation Process workshop about three months ago. I just can't wait to tell you that I have found a job at a real estate company, in which I fee I can utilize my strengths.

Jiali Lu

You may not know, it was just for my curiosity that I decided to join your workshop with a lot of doubts about the usefulness then. However, to my surprise, I gained so much indeed just in those several short sessions of DSAP.

I felt I was totally changed after the session as I became stronger with much confidence in heart. Most important, I started looking at myself for what I could do better, but not worried about what I could not do.

You really opened my psychic window and took me to walk away from the grey area of my life and to enter into a new journey for my own future. I am so grateful to you.

Would you reply to me for this? Oh, please do!

Your student,
Jiali Lu

This is a letter that I received a couple of weeks ago from a young woman (pictured above, far right) from a group of unemployed youngsters who were around 20 years old in one of the local communities in Shanghai. I remember vividly that morning when I walked into the class room. My heart became heavier as some of the young people there looked so dull, including Jiali Lu. She stared at me without any eye movement while I tried to talk with her. To Be Your Best Self

A local social worker sat behind her in case I could not handle the situation, as they thought some students would have no interest at all in the program. It was the efforts of those social workers to bring them to the class. It seemed that was the greatest challenge that I had ever confronted since I began conducting DSAP in China over the past years.

"How should I deal with the situation?" I asked myself with a bit anxiety in me, because the last thing that I want to see in this world is the fail of DSAP. To make a long story short, I finally decided to follow the rule set by Dr. Haldane, "Let the process work itself."

DSAP in Shanghai The workshop went on okay as the students went through all the activities in the process, except for practicing the Job Magnet outside the classroom. I did not require them to do so that time. Nevertheless, not only the participants themselves, but (to be honest) even myself then, did not think that the process would bring an effective result on this group of young people for finding some kind of job in Shanghai. Well, in about three months, the above letter came in.

The process does work itself!
